On the Market - Paseo Villena

4:40 PM PST - 3/17/2009
by: Greg Lucas

With its gray limestone exterior, linear awnings and bold glass front door, 6025 Paseo Villena is distinctively different yet complementary to its neighbors in The Boulders in Granite Bay.

The 6,100-square-foot home on 1.7 rock-and-tree-dotted acres was framed, but there was still time for a couple relocating from Arizona to select all of the surfaces to reflect their desire for warm, open, and more contemporary spaces.

Warmth is added via generous art walls that highlight the couple’s collection and through Brazilian cherry hardwood that covers more than one-third of the floor space. The chocolaty wood is a rich contrast to the high-ceilinged, beige-walled entryway and the dining and sitting areas beyond it, which are separated by a double-sided, tall-chimney fireplace of stacked slate tile.

The U-shaped layout places the first-floor master suite – whose Kohler infinity edge bathtub is filled by a ceiling faucet – next to the slate-faced spa and directly across the infinity-edge pool from the kitchen and family room.

A chef’s delight, the spacious slate-floored kitchen has two dishwashers, a mammoth marble island with custom-fabricated stainless steel countertops and sinks. There are seats for six around two of its sides.

A Miele espresso maker and vegetable steamer flank the stainless steel Sub-Zero Pro 48 refrigerator which has six drawers – four beneath the main refrigerator and freezer and two under a wine refrigerator that offers easy access to some of the 2,000 bottles that can be stored in the temperature controlled wine room across the hall.

There’s a pot-filling faucet mounted above the 60-inch Wolf double oven with French heating unit. The walk-in pantry can hold a plethora of provisions.

The family room’s fireplace echoes the stacked slate found in the master bedroom, living and dining rooms. Danish influenced brown-wood and black-leather recliners point toward the home stereo system. A steel-and-glass breakfast table faces the pool.

A comfortable downstairs guest room, airy, dark-shelved office and a four-car garage also are on the first floor.

Custom-designed cable stair rails lead upstairs where there are three additional bedrooms – all with full, dark-cabineted baths and large walk-in closets. A bonus room and second laundry room complete the second floor.
